CSz Boston is excited to begin adding to our Professional Roster for 2017! Tryouts are approaching and you can reserve your spot here – you’ll have four days to choose from and all Tryouts last 2 hours. More information is also below in a handy FAQ.

Who is CSz Boston?

CSz Boston is a part of a global network that aims to transform the world through improv for individuals, families, friends and organizations. Our mission is to produce consistently funny, professional, improvised works, classes and workshops to the Boston and surrounding communities while aligning with the CSz Worldwide brand, culture, and values. What is ComedySportz®?

A ComedySportz® match features two teams of players competing for laughs and points, with a referee keeping things moving and calling fouls. An average of seven to twelve games are played during a match, drawn from a repertoire of over a hundred improv games. Every match is different, with different players, different games, and different audiences supplying new suggestions. The fans judge the scenes and games and ultimately decide the winner of the match.

Is there an age requirement for Tryouts?

Tryouts are open to ages 18 and older.

What happens if I get cast?  

Being cast on the Professional Roster at CSz Boston is a two-step process.

After attending Tryouts, if selected, you’ll be placed in our CSz Minor League program. Being selected for the CSz Minor League program means that you are being trained with the intention to be cast as a core player on the Professional Roster following the 8-week program completion. Each Minor League Player will be evaluated individually and provided feedback and guidance on recommended next steps.

What does the CSz Minor League training program entail?

The Minor League training program is 8 weeks, with the 9th week culminating in a match for friends and family. Training begins the second week of January 2017. We will be running two Minor League teams at the same time, with the expectation that if you’re cast, you attend one practice weekly.The practice for Minor League schedule is as follows:

  • Wednesdays @ 7:30 – 9:30 pm [Location TBD ]
    OR
  • Thursdays @ 7:30 – 9:30 pm [Location TBD]

Does CSz Boston charge $ for its Minor League program?

There is no cost to players enrolled in our Minor League. Your training is paid for and you will not be charged for your end of program performance.

How long should I expect to be at the Tryout?

The Tryout itself will be 2 hours. Please allow 30 minutes prior, to arrive, check in and get going.

What should I wear at the Tryout?

We recommend business casual, and close-toed shoes.

What should I expect to do at the Tryout?

Be prepared to play! You will be improvising in a variety of short form scenes and games.

What should I bring?

Headshot or photo of yourself, and your resume.

How will I know my Tryout spot is confirmed?

You will receive a confirmed day and time within 3 days from signing up. All Tryout spots are first come first serve.
